The Weeknd blankly dropped ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ complete album black vinyl for the people, and reaction-wise, it has been quite dispiriting: hype train, angry complainants, soul-searching if anything else worth a purchase should be thrown at the vendors next; the classic chaotic aftermath after a music drop.

Dro 💿 Vinyl News must have uploaded the photo of the vinyl first on Twitter, and it flew high with the replies. Sleek and clean design of the black vinyl, but it doesn’t have a unanimous fan. FDA, one user, wrote: “Fraud-ass first edition compared to this new one.” Harsh, indeed. Another fed-up fan, Sam, went into a full rant: “We spend money on too many editions just to get scammed when merch quality is bottom tier; The shirt I ordered came 4 MONTHS after and the quality is shit,”. Whoa.
Others weren’t feeling salty with this one. Mary_Frt74 is looking forward to getting her copy into her collection, while Karen Hildebrandt said: “NICE! love it.” Short and sweet.
The real drama erupted when it came to whether or not there would be signed art cards. Harrison queried if the signed cards for this complete vinyl would be like the ones for the first pressing, thus opening the floodgates for many to say they were pretty sure they weren’t. Austin Taylor, however, said he already had an signed vinyl, a signed CD, and a signed poster coming in June, so he was not bothered. Then Miles Morales (yes, that is his display name) came in to confirm that there would be none for this one.
Then came the international struggle. Someone inquired about the availability for São Paulo, while a fan talked about the UK store having a random drop, claiming that was why folks were scrambling. Shipping woes, murky availability, and multiple editions; Typical Weeknd merch rollout.
Naturally, someone has to draw a Taylor Swift parallel with this one. User re1oadedd joked, “He’s turning into Taylor Swift,” in reference to Swift’s infamous multiple album editions. Fair enough, I guess.
Anyhow, while you gather a chorus of happy and frustrated owners, every single person will agree that The Weeknd only really knows how to keep the conversation going. The vinyl itself looks sleek, demand courses through the streets, and people will fight over which version deserves it. The big question is, how many variants will we see before our backs finally get a little rest?

Perhaps if you were planning to grab one, just start with the UK store. Otherwise, your wallet is going down once again. Either way, good luck out there. The vinyl game is ruthless.
