In January 2024, Pedro walked the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet wearing an arm sling. It was later revealed that he fell and suffered an injury. He told Variety that he’d be getting surgery that month as well. Filming on The Last of Us season 2 began in mid-February 2024. Thus, we can infer, Pedro was limited due to his recovery.
He reiterated this in a new interview with USA Today.
Pedro said, “I came in very injured. And I remember [the show’s creator] Craig Mazin telling me, ‘Well, that’s certainly appropriate for where Joel is at. The more broken you are, the more right it is for Joel.’”
The Last of Us continues on Sunday (April 20) on HBO.
