Sivaji Ganesan’s grandson Dushyanth and his wife Abirami produced Jagajala Killadi starring Vishnu Vishal and Nivetha Pethuraj under their banner, Eesan Productions.
To finance the film, they borrowed Rs. 3.74 crore from Dhanabhakiyam Enterprises at a high interest rate of 30% per year. When the repayment failed, the lender approached the court.
Retired judge Ravindran was appointed as an arbitrator, and he ordered that the full rights of the film be handed over to Dhanabhakiyam Enterprises to recover Rs. 9.39 crore, including interest.
He also stated that any extra money should be returned to the production company. However, Eesan Productions refused, saying the movie was incomplete.
To implement the order, Dhanabhakiyam Enterprises approached the Madras High Court, seeking to attach “Annai Illam”, the house of late actor Sivaji Ganesan.
The court agreed. Actor Prabhu then filed a new petition, stating the house belongs to him and not his brother Ramkumar, asking the court to cancel the order.
