Doug Kiker‘s cause of death has been revealed.
The former American Idol contestant died in March 2025 at the young age of 32. He previously appeared on the 18th season of the singing competition series and was lovingly known as the “Singing Garbage Man.” Doug was voted off the show before the Top 20, but was given the chance to sing on the finale that year.
Doug‘s death was confirmed by his family members and his ex-fiancee Valerie Cook, who said that she “hates that her kids lost their father.”
Now, the cause of death has been revealed.

TMZ reports that Doug died from an opioid overdose.
Specifically, Doug passed away “from the combined toxic effects of fentanyl, methadone, and amphetamines, with recent cocaine use — and his death has been ruled an accident.”
