Why LASIK Might Be Your Ticket to Visual Freedom this Holiday Season

The holiday season will be here before you know it. If you’ve been thinking about giving yourself the gift of a laser vision correction procedure, this is the perfect time to get started.

Millions of people have chosen LASIK to correct their vision. After all, how could you say no to finally cutting the cord from glasses and contacts?

With a short recovery time, you can plan to have LASIK this fall and begin the holiday season with sharp, clear eyesight. Keep reading to discover why LASIK might be your ticket to visual freedom this holiday season!

Why Should You Choose to Have LASIK Now?

Getting LASIK before heading into the busy holiday season means you can enjoy all the benefits of crisp, clear vision without the hassles of glasses or contacts.

Be Photo Ready

Whether you’re posing for a family holiday card or attending formal New Year’s Eve events, you’ll want to be looking for your best during the holiday season. Glasses can be frustrating if you know the cameras will be on you.

You may notice glare from your lenses or shadows across your face, ruining your pictures. But what if you could look great in photos without worrying about irritation due to contacts?

Look and feel your best while catching up with the ones you love with LASIK. Getting LASIK now will give you plenty of time to prepare for your close-up while opening gifts or toasting the new year.

No More Foggy Glasses

The holiday season is a busy time for social events, shopping, and outdoor fun like skiing. If you wear glasses, you know how frustrating it can be to walk into your house and suddenly be unable to see because your glasses got foggy.

Sudden temperature changes shouldn’t mean temporarily losing your vision! Wouldn’t it be nice to see clearly whether the sun is shining or pouring out?

With LASIK, your vision will be crisp and clear, indoors and out, no matter the weather. Say goodbye to foggy glasses and hello to beautiful vision that fits you in all seasons.

Better Night Vision

Glasses and contacts can cause you to see glare or halos around lights. This can be especially noticeable when driving at night, distorting your ability to see traffic lights and oncoming headlights.

LASIK may eliminate the appearance of halos so that you can drive confidently during the holiday season. Holiday lights will twinkle instead of looking out of focus, fuzzy, and lacking definition.

See with the sharp, crisp definition you’ve always wanted, allowing you to finally experience the immense beauty of the holiday season.

Easier Travel

For many, the holiday season is all about traveling to see the ones you love. But if you depend on visual aids, it can be a bit stressful.

Wearing contacts means you have to pack your contacts, plenty of solution, and spare glasses just in case. Instead of being relaxing and a way to unwind, losing or damaging your glasses will turn your vacation into an ordeal.

Wouldn’t it be so much better if you could wake up and see clearly? Traveling where and when you want to go becomes a breeze when you’ve had LASIK and can see clearly.

Because LASIK has such a short recovery time, you’ll be back to doing the things you love, except you can enjoy them with crystal-clear vision that you only thought you could achieve in your dreams.

Take Advantage of FSA Deadlines

Many flexible spending accounts (FSAs) have December 31st deadlines for using the funds you’ve set aside for health expenses. You may not realize it, but LASIK is one of the eligible procedures for which FSA funds can be used.

Because you can use your FSA to offset the costs of LASIK, it’s never been a better time to have LASIK than right now. By the time the holiday season comes, you’ll have the vision you’ve always wanted, thanks to the ultimate investment in yourself!

Outstanding Results

LASIK is very effective and has helped millions achieve their goals of better vision. It’s not an accident that most patients end up with 20/20 vision or better, and 96% of patients are satisfied with their incredible results!

This, too, could be you, especially since LASIK corrects your vision beyond your original prescription. That means you’ll see better than you ever could while depending on visual aids!

What to Expect With LASIK

LASIK is short for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. It’s a refractive laser eye procedure that uses a femtosecond laser and an excimer laser to reshape your cornea and correct refractive errors. These include farsightedness, astigmatism, and nearsightedness.

LASIK is an outpatient procedure that takes less than an hour to perform. If you’re nervous, your LASIK surgeon at Eye Center of Texas will offer you a sedative.

Before LASIK begins, your LASIK surgeon will administer numbing eye drops to ensure you don’t feel any discomfort. After these numbing eye drops disperse over the surface of your eye, your LASIK surgeon will use a femtosecond laser to create a flap in the outer layer of your eye.

They then open the flap to reach your cornea. They will carefully reshape the cornea using an excimer laser and gently close the flap back over your eye. The flap will heal without stitches.

Most patients start noticing almost immediate visual improvements after LASIK. As the numbing eye drops start wearing off in the hours after the procedure, you may notice your eyes feel sore and gritty.

These side effects should wear off after a day or two. You’ll use prescription eye drops to help reduce inflammation and the chance of infection. You’ll also need to refrain from strenuous activities while your eyes heal.

In the days and weeks after LASIK, your vision will continue improving, with most patients achieving their peak vision 3-6 months after having LASIK.

Are You Ready for LASIK?

There has never been a better time to schedule a LASIK consultation. During your LASIK consultation at Eye Center of Texas, your eye doctor will discuss your visual goals and do a comprehensive eye exam.

The exam includes producing a digital 3D map of your eyes so your surgeon can create a custom treatment plan for each of your eyes. You may be a good candidate for LASIK if you’re at least 18, have a stable prescription that’s remained unchanged for a year or more, and have thick enough corneas to undergo the procedure.

You also shouldn’t have LASIK if you are pregnant or nursing or if you have a history of eye conditions or certain health conditions such as diabetes or lupus. If you’re not a good LASIK candidate, your eye doctor may suggest alternative procedures like the EVO ICL or PRK.

Do you think you could be a good candidate for LASIK? Take your holiday season to new heights by contacting your eye doctor at Eye Center of Texas in Houston, TX, to determine if LASIK could be right for you!
