Fixed Term Position – January to April 2026 (39hpw)
Galway Hospice Foundation has a long history of providing high quality specialist palliative care services throughout Galway. As part of the ongoing development of regional palliative care services, we are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the Galway Hospice specialist palliative care team.
The primary role of the Registrars on each site will be to provide specialist palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary team for patients with life-limiting illnesses. The aim is to maximise quality of life for patients by the provision of the highest quality symptom management and support. Registrars will participate in the relevant on-call rota.
Candidates will have:
- Registration with Irish Medical Council is essential.
- Enrolment in professional competence scheme as per IMC requirements.
- Significant level of experience in medicine, palliative medicine, oncology, general practice or related disciplines.
- Palliative medicine experience desirable (but not essential).
- High level of clinical skills and knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills and team working, with the ability to establish good interpersonal relationships with other staff and disciplines.
- An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of palliative care.
- Computer skills an advantage.
