my book part 2 – samantha mercanti

I can’t even begin to explain how therapeutic the book was for me.

The only way I can explain this is that I had anxiety around travel and after the book, most of my anxiety around travel faded. Now, I drive and fly everywhere with little anxiety. I can’t explain it either.

After writing the book, I did intense work on myself with an amazing mentor and counsellor.

Just so you know, I didn’t write the book for money. The money I made from the book I put back into the community.

My local books are now almost sold out and can’t be purchased anymore on my website. When I say local, I mean in Canada.

I wrote the book for everyone, not just for people who read. When I was ill, I could not read a fine print 200 page book. Everything I do, I do for a deeper reason.

And yes, I will be writing a second book in the future.

For my second book, I may do book tours and more events, as someone asked me how I sold so many copies of my book without really doing much, and I replied, my book launched right when I started the MBA, and I sold it through social media and word of mouth.

She was impressed.

Imagine if I had the time to put more effort into it…

In life, you typically have choices. When I was beginning to recover, I chose to speak openly, understanding I would be sacrificing a lot. I also chose to complete my first degree, though I knew it would be difficult.

Then, I chose to complete my second degree so I could boost my grades and eventually do a master’s degree.

I went off social media during my two degrees and while I built my career. It was the right decision.

When everything shut down, I was still working full-time, however I chose to use my spare time to write the book and apply to the MBA program. I knew I couldn’t go anywhere, so I tried to be productive during that time.

Even though I didn’t choose my illness, when I was able to make choices again, I tried to choose in the best way I knew how and use the power I was given for good.

I’ll leave you with this, I don’t know what the future holds for me, but just so you know, now that the MBA is done and I’ve written my first book, I have started planning my next chapters (in life and business).

I promise you, in everything I plan to do – large or small – I will always enjoy the ride and make each and every day count. I hope you do too!
