Fox News host Martha MacCallum and Senator Chris Coons got into a heated argument over Elon Musk.
During a Wednesday, April 2, appearance on the right-leaning cable news channel, the Democratic politician and the host sparred over DOGE’s involvement in the Social Security Administration under the tech mogul’s direction.

Before Martha MacCallum and Chris Coons started their debate, Fox News played a clip of Elon Musk and his DOGE team under Donald Trump‘s administration talking about the alleged abuse and fraud they were eliminating. The reporter then asked the leftist if he was “shocked” by what the billionaire was claiming.
“Not only do I not believe some of what was just shared there, but the Trump administration’s acting administrator of Social Security has said that less than one-tenth of one percent of the payments put out by the Social Security administration are fraudulent or in error,” Coons said, adding that Musk “thinks Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme.”

Martha MacCallum then pressed Chris Coons about why former President Joe Biden didn’t attempt to cut government spending while he was in power.
“You sound like you’re pretty okay with all the agencies and how they function. So you say all those millions of people depend on Social Security, so you don’t care about the ones that are going to never get it because it’s going to be insolvent in 10 years. What have democrats done, what did Joe Biden’s administration do to find the waste, fraud and abuse in Social Security to try to shore up this important agency? What did they do? Can you tell me?” she asked.
“Martha, you are presuming widespread waste, fraud and abuse in Social Security,” Coons shot back. “You haven’t offered any credible evidence to support that. I don’t believe what DOGE says about virtually any federal agency, but I will believe what the GAO [Government Accountability Office] says, or the inspector general or the administrator of Social Security.”
Tensions continued to rise as MacCallum interjected, “Why? Can I ask you why? Can I ask you why?”
“Because I’ve had senior folks from DOGE lie to my face about other federal agencies where they claim they have widespread waste, fraud and abuse where previous audits did not find that waste, fraud and abuse!” Coons yelled.

Martha MacCallum and Chris Coons continued to yell and interrupt each other as the discussion became a bit more personal.
“I can’t get a word in edgewise. I’m trying to ask you a question — that’s my job,” MacCallum spat back at the representative before their chat abruptly ended.

Despite Elon Musk’s bold actions under DOGE — like cutting hundreds of government jobs — insiders have claimed the Tesla CEO will be exiting Donald Trump’s administration at the end of May.
“At some point, he’s going to be going back,” Trump said on Monday, March 31. “I’ll keep him as long as I can keep him. He’s a very talented guy. I love very smart people, and he’s very smart. And he’s done a good job. I like high-IQ people. At some point, Elon’s going to want to go back to his company.”
