Blanco’s cause of death was ruled a heart attack.
IFBB Professional League Bikini athlete Lorena Blanco passed away at 37. According to Spanish news, La Voz de Galicia, Blanco suffered a heart attack in her home on Saturday, July 26. She was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead that same day.
Blanco, also known as Lorena Blanco Pita, turned professional at the 2023 NPC Worldwide European Championships and debuted that same weekend at the Europa Pro, finishing in 11th place. She competed in seven pro shows during the 2024 season. Her best finish was fourth at the 2024 Tahoe Pro.
Blanco was amidst her most successful season in the pro ranks in 2025. She entered four contests and won silver at the Kokeny Classic Hungary Pro. Her final contest was the Gomesia Ultimate Battle Pro Medellin Supershow in Medellin, Colombia, on July 18-20, where she ranked 12th overall.
Blanco was expected to continue competing in 2025 to earn her first Bikini Olympia qualification but her next contest was not announced.

Every member of the staff will remember you forever,” the IFBB Pro League Hungary office’s Instagram post caption said of Blanco. “At the end of the competition, you thanked each and every one of us individually. You stood quietly and patiently backstage after the awards ceremony, with sparkling eyes, to thank the promoter for one of the most outstanding achievements of your professional career.”
“With your second-place finish at the Kökény Classic, you were just a hair’s breadth away from fulfilling your dreams and qualifying for the Bikini Olympia. The hug you gave to express your gratitude is forever etched in the soul of the writer of these lines! Rest in peace, Lorena! On this occasion, we would like to express our condolences to your family, husband, and coach! We’ll meet on the heavenly stage!”
Blanco is survived by her husband and coach, Isi Bolaños. The initial report of Blanco’s passing noted that that her funeral will be held at Velatorios Lucenses on Sunday, July 27, with a private burial ceremony.
