I Gave My Sim BPD And This Is How It Went – BPDOLOGY (NormalIs2Mainstream)

I’ve been playing Sims 4 for a while now and decided to look into Mods. I managed to find a few BPD mods but could only download one by StormyWarrior8 on Mod The Sims. It was a bit tricky at first to get the hang of and I ended up installing another mod called Meaningful Stories to help. I played multiple saves before I settled into the life of my sim Blaire. I gave her the BPD trait as well as “Loyal” and “Bookworm” she doesn’t really look like me though I tried so she’s more inspired by me rather than actually me. Anyway in the first save I settled Blaire into Willow Creek. I read on the mod creator’s page that the mod would give my sim the inspired moodlet for 6-8 hours while at home. I made the most of this by getting her to paint, she liked it and spent hours on it which I find relatable, when I find a new hobby or interest and feel pumped up about it, I would spend hours at a time on it.

The welcome wagon came and Blaire made fast friends and connections with her neighbors, especially Summer Holiday. It wasn’t long before I had the option to ask Summer to move in but obviously didn’t do so, I do wish I had though (more on that soon.) While at first Blaire was having fun, she suddenly got a sad moodlet because of “Borderline Personality Disorder’s Depression” and she left in the middle of a conversation to go and cry in bed…honestly pretty accurate lol. After the guests left and more painting, Blaire went to bed… and died. I don’t know how or why but the notification that all the sims in my household had died popped up so it was time for a new save.

With save two I found that the more positive moodlets were overtaking the negative moods like BPD anxiety, depression and rage. Which meant my sims life was easier… too easy. I wanted more conflict and drama for my sim. I wanted her to experience the full BPD spectrum so I installed the EXTREME version of the trait and started a new save. Things were indeed more interesting in the Extreme version of the trait. She seemed to have more of a bad time out in public and away from home. While at the nightclub she became very angry and had to go to the mirror to calm down before dancing aggressively to the stereo music. Her negative mood seemed to trigger more at night leading her to a bar at 3am pissed off for no reason other than BPD. I started getting frustrated with how sims 4 moodlets work as I still found it too easy to keep my sim happy because they would become happy about anything like decorations and how emotions work in the sims is rather unrealistic in general. So I installed meaningful stories and started save Four.

This is the save I settled on as Meaningful Stories seemed to help with the emotional experiences of my sim. Her moods changed more fluidly and quicker allowing for more of the mood swing experience of BPD for example she became sad while out so I made her play the piano in the night club as she sobbed quietly to herself. I liked that my sim had creative and physical outlets for her good and bad moods to show more healthy coping skills for BPD. The rage came in very handy at the gym.

Another thing I noticed with the mod was that if someone around her was angry sad or tense she would get that same moodlet because of the empathy she has from BPD. As before, she was still very good with people and very sociable, her social need seemed to lower more than even my outgoing sims and developed her relationship with others faster than the average sim. Because of this she ended up with many friends and an intense soul mate connection with Summer. When Summer became her girlfriend and moved in my sim was very happy around her, they had a strong connection and positive relationship, I guess you could call Summer the “Favourite Person” for Blaire. However the relationship did end in tears. This is what happened; my sim was feeling really inspired so she was painting but she suddenly became enraged and died before I could stop it. Yeah, it wasn’t great but this time my sim had someone else in the household so I didn’t have to start over again. Summer failed to plead with the reaper so I got some ambrosia from the gallery and three nights later my sims ghost ate it and Blaire was back.

Unfortunately her death meant Blaire lost her job as a style influencer and all of her friends so I at least partly had to start again by throwing a party to introduce her to everyone and get her a new job as a freelance artist. Once that was settled I sent her and Summer on a date and was considering getting my sim to propose to her… until Blaire saw Summer flirting with another woman. The relationship bar dropped hard and fast and in seconds they were no longer soulmates and my sim was depressed. It reminded me of how up and down BPD relationships can be, how we may love another so intensely but when we’re hurt we can split and lose that connection just as fast as it was made. They broke up and my sim moved out to Oasis Springs to start a new life.

Since my sim loved painting so much and because of the mod making her so inspired and building creative skills faster she was able to finish the painting aspiration and earn the trait “expressionistic” which I definitely think suits well with BPD. Blaire had already started writing when she was with Summer; I got her to write books about/dedicated to her with titles as puns made out of her name such as “Summer Lovin’” “Summertime Sadness” and “Hot for Summer” it’s what I imagined I would do if I was in love with someone, cringe I know lol. Anyway this meant I could transition smoothly into the writer aspiration, fulfilling my dream of being an author through my sim, again the mod made this easier to progress through and soon Blaire’s writing skill was maxed out as well as her cooking and painting.

It was a quiet life for my sim for a while, spent with friends and writing for herself and work until I decided to interfere again. I downloaded a speed dating bar from the gallery and made it a flirty environment with decorations. You can probably guess where I’m going with this, I sent my sim there nearly every night to try and develop a romantic relationship again. Even with the environment helping it was hard to get my sim flirty and have her make a move on anyone, she only seemed to flirt if someone else flirted with her first which, again, I find relatable. After a few nights she built a relationship with Piper and it wasn’t long before she moved in and Blaire formed a similar relationship with her as she did with Summer. It was a cute relationship though as they would both sit and read together or do work on their laptops side by side, it was great until Blaire died…again. She starved to death, I don’t know how, she was hungry but I thought she would last longer and she was literally just about to eat so I was annoyed. Luckily though Piper was there and ,with her confidence, was able to demand that the grim reaper spare my sim’s life.

Considering this was now the third time Blaire had died, I thought it would be a good idea to befriend the grim reaper who got along really well with her, possibly because this grim reaper also had Borderline Personality Disorder. Despite this act of heroism from Piper, my sim wanted to break up with her which I was hesitant to do at first until I saw that Piper wanted to flirt with one of the firefighters who came to help with a fire as we watched it burn through Johnny Zest’s house and kill him ( I did not start said fire in case you were wondering) so another break up ensued, though it wasn’t as bad as the break up Summer with whom Blaire still has a “very awkward” relationship with. With piper though they have been able to remain good friends.

Overall playing the sims with the BPD mod was very interesting, and I think Blaire has became my favourite sim. She is so creative (I’d say even more so than a creative sim) and sociable. Sure, having to run to a mirror to calm her down when she becomes enraged is challenging as well as her tendency to become depressed and start sobbing anytime, anywhere and her anxiety could stand in the way of her tasks at times but it was a great mod in the respect of showing those challenges and the strengths that come with BPD.
