Labrada has not competed in 2025, and he shared why on social media.
IFBB Pro League Men’s Open bodybuilder Hunter Labrada is rehabbing from shoulder surgery. Labrada, the son of bodybuilding legend Lee Labrada, had not competed at all during the 2025 season, and he confirmed the injury and medical procedure as reasons why.
Labrada has not posted much content on his YouTube or Instagram pages due to challenges “both physically and mentally.”
I finally got the shoulder procedure I’ve probably needed for three years now.

Labrada did not explain the details of the injury or the surgery, but confirmed he is in rehab and confident he will be better for it once he is completely healed.
The range of motion and pain are already better than before the surgery.

The second-generation bodybuilder mentioned spending more time with his family and friends to mentally refresh. His return to competition remains unclear, but he referenced plans for “next year” in the post’s caption. This suggests qualifying for the 2025 Mr. Olympia contest, set for Oct. 9-12 in Las Vegas, NV, is unlikely.
Labrada has competed in the IFBB Pro League since 202. He has qualified for the Olympia five times. He finished in the top 10 all five appearances; his highest rank was fourth in 2021; he ranked sixth in 2023 and 2024. Labrada’s most recent pro victory was the 2024 ProMuscle Italy Pro.
I am not done. I will be back…better than ever before.
—Hunter Labrada
