Ahead of the holidays, we had the privilege of supporting Urban Street Angels during their Holiday Dinner, an evening designed to bring warmth and connection to youth experiencing homelessness in San Diego. At Fit, we were proud to stand beside an organization that works every day to create safety, stability, and opportunity for young people who are building toward a brighter future.
Urban Street Angels supports transition age youth through their bridge housing programs in downtown San Diego, La Mesa, and Vista. Many of these youth have aged out of foster care or faced homelessness and housing insecurity. Being part of this evening gave us the chance to see their impact up close. Our team joined the Urban Street Angels staff on site, helping prepare and serve the side dishes while Urban Street Angels provided the main course and another volunteer group brought desserts. The dinner served seventy youth and created a meaningful moment of community during the holiday season. Afterward, we spent time visiting with the youth and the Urban Street Angels team, listening and learning about the difference their programs make.
We also learned more about how essential food security is for the youth they serve. Urban Street Angels prepares around one hundred seventy meals each day across their three locations. On the night of the Holiday Dinner, more than one hundred sixty youth had a warm and safe place to sleep and hope for the future because of the support provided through these programs. We felt grateful to be part of that effort.
Alongside volunteering, we also hosted a holiday donation drive at Fit, encouraging our members to contribute in support of Urban Street Angels as an organization. The funds raised will help strengthen their programs and services for youth throughout the year.
For us, this experience was a meaningful reminder that wellness is not only about fitness. It is also about community, care, and showing up when it matters. At Fit, we were proud to support Urban Street Angels, proud of our team for giving their time, and thankful to our members who joined us in helping an organization that continues to make a real difference for youth in San Diego.
