Event: Fall Gardening at Village Well Books & Coffee

Save the Date, gardenerds: I’m excited to give a talk at Village Well Books & Coffee in Culver City on October 5, 2025 at 5 p.m. It’s a chance to share the joys of fall gardening (the best growing season, IMHO) and how to grow a ton of stuff in a small space.

If you’re not familiar with Village Well Books, it’s a charming bookshop in Culver City, CA with a coffee bar and workspace. People flock to it on the weekends, and during the week locals use the space for meetings, social gatherings, and of course, reading. The owner endeared herself to the community by hand-delivering books to people’s doorsteps during the pandemic lockdown when Village Well Books first opened in 2020. 5 years later, they expanded to take over the space next door. It’s a must-visit location in Culver City.

Village Well Books & Coffee is a great place to hang out.

The talk is free of charge, and you can pick up a signed copy of High Yield Small Space Organic Gardening while you’re there (Hint: the holidays are right around the corner!). Registration is available here and you can pre-order copies at the same time on that page. If you already have a copy, go to the Eventbrite listing to RSVP.

Fall offers so many benefits for gardening. Cooler temperatures, fewer pests, and the ability to grow stuff that doesn’t do well in hot weather. Kale, cilantro, parsley, arugula, salad greens, sugar snap peas and more – these are the highlights of a fall garden.

Come grab a coffee and browse this sweet bookshop. You’ll learn how to get more from your growing space, and what you can grow this season. Got questions? Post them below and I will bring them with me to the talk.
