On May 2, Us Weekly broke the news that Hugh Hefner‘s widow, Crystal Hefner, is set to wed her love of a year, James Ward. The marine biologist reportedly popped the question with a six-carat diamond sparkler at the former reality star’s home in Hawaii over the weekend of April 25.
The blonde beauty — who co-starred with her late husband on The Girls Next Door in 2009 and 2010 — was married to the Playboy founder from 2012 until his death at 91 in 2017.
“My first wedding was part of a chapter that felt performative, more about public perception than genuine partnership. I didn’t even wear white. It didn’t feel like a sacred milestone; it felt like playing a role in someone else’s story. This time, with James, it’s completely different. We’re best friends. We laugh, support each other and navigate life hand-in-hand. Our wedding will reflect that — simple, heartfelt, and full of love. Not a show, but a celebration of the life we’ve built together,” she told Us Weekly, adding that they’d like to tie the knot in 2026.
