Brittany Cartwright opened up about the “horrible” way Jax Taylor treated her during their marriage after Tuesday’s episode of The Valley.
As Kristen Doute, 42, and Zack Wickham, 36, recalled Jax, 45, telling her she was “fat,” and Lala Kent, 34, revealed she was once hospitalized due to the stress she was under because of their strained relationship, Brittany, 36, recalled the devastating comments Jax made about her body after she gave birth to their son Cruz, now four.
“He would talk about my body all the time. I’ve got stretch marks from having his son. He would say that I looked like a tree trunk … He would say it in front of my friends,” Brittany revealed on the April 22 episode of The Valley: After Show. “And he never wanted me to vent to my friends, so he would try to make me feel like I don’t have any friends.”
“[He] was horrible. He would go out to people and talk about how amazing I was in public and stuff, but then he would come home that very same day and tear me to pieces,” she continued.
According to Brittany, Jax has “always kind of” been that way, especially on nights out and after their exits from Pump Rules, since he “didn’t have anything going on.”
“He was treating me so bad … I guess he wasn’t attracted to me anymore or something, and he, like, let me know it,” she recalled.
While Brittany acknowledged that she’s been criticized for “[bashing] the father of [her] child,” she defended her comments about Jax, saying, “I shouldn’t be blamed for the way he treated me.”
Meanwhile, in his own segment, Jax denied wrongdoing, saying his estranged wife‘s body is “the one thing that I love about her.”
“I’ve never, never, never in my life have ever called her fat. I would never, ever call her that,” he stated. “Have I said mean things? Of course … That’s gonna happen in any relationship. But as far as attacking her body, no, I love the way she looks.”
Continuing on, Jax suggested that his past comments had been misconstrued as he shaded the false “narrative” that Brittany’s friends allegedly created.
“Brittany’s got a big team behind her, she’s got a lot of girl power behind her, and they try to say things to fit their narrative,” he alleged as Kristen labeled him a “complete liar.”
‘I’ve seen it, I’ve read it, I’ve been there in person for years. I mean, literally right after she gave birth to Cruz, [Jax was] calling her fat, amongst, like, much worse ways to say it,” she revealed.
Even Nia confirmed that Jax had insulted Brittany in front of her family, and Zack claimed he told her, “‘Get on a treadmill. Why aren’t you working out? You need to work out. You’re so fat.’”
Looking back, Brittany admitted she often ignored Jax’s insults because it was “easier.”
“I would just hold it in, hold it in, hold it in, and it was, like, really wearing on me. I was breaking out in hives. I was throwing up all the time. … I broke out in hives every day for an entire year,” she shared.
Brittany was even hospitalized.
“Remember when you broke out in hives and then the left side of your body was completely numb, you had to go to the hospital?” Lala asked.
“They said they couldn’t figure out anything that was wrong, other than stress, and I don’t do that anymore, and it’s because I don’t live with him anymore,” Brittany replied.
Then, after Brittany explained that Jax can be charming on-camera and say “all the right things,” Lala labeled him a narcissist.
“The narcissist does wonders when he’s on display,” she noted.
The Valley season two airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
