Boston Children’s Hospital tops U.S. News & World Report’s list of best hospitals for pediatric nephrology for 2025-2026.
“The division of nephrology at Boston Children’s Hospital serves children and their families with kidney disease on the local, regional and international level. Our clinical faculty cover all aspects of kidney disease, rare and common, maintaining a large dialysis and renal transplantation program at the forefront of continuous clinical quality improvement. Our research faculty are world leaders in their fields, particularly in genetic diseases. We are a teaching hospital and have trained generations of pediatric nephrologist worldwide,” Friedhelm Hildebrandt, MD, chief of the nephrology division at Boston Children’s Hospital, told Healio.

The annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings are intended to help families of children with serious illnesses or complex medical needs obtain the best possible medical care.
The rankings highlight the top 50 centers in 11 pediatric specialties: behavioral health, cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology.
Other centers named to the top 10 for pediatric nephrology this year are Texas Children’s Hospital — ranked first in 2024-2025, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Cincinnati Children’s, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and Children’s National Hospital.
U.S. News & World Report also released its 2025-2026 Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll, which recognizes centers that deliver exceptionally high-quality pediatric care across multiple specialties.
Hospitals named to the honor roll — in alphabetical order — include Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Children’s National Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Rady Children’s Hospital, Seattle Children’s Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital.
The Best Children’s Hospitals rankings take several factors into account, according to the release.
These factors include clinical outcomes, compliance with best practices, and level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care.
RTI International, a research and consulting firm based in North Carolina, collected and analyzed data from 118 children’s hospitals and also surveyed several thousand pediatric specialists.
