Best Dog Products for a Healthy Skin + Coat

If you know me, by now you know that my dogs are my life and keeping them as healthy as they can be is always my #1 goal! So many people compliment my dogs on their healthy skin and coats so I wanted to share some of our personal favorite tips! Keeping your dog’s skin and coat healthy isn’t just about good looks though, it’s a sign of their overall wellness and very much worth the effort! If your pup is dealing with dryness, dullness, itching, or excessive shedding, here are my top tips on how to help, both internally and externally. You can view all of the products in a cart ready to go, here!

1. Supplements

Omega-3s (especially EPA and DHA from fish oil) reduce inflammation, improve skin hydration, and give coats a glossy shine. I carry the Nordic Naturals brand, just pop a few in their food and watch their skin and coat transform! We also love the Healthy Skin + Coat supplement by kin + kind for a nice boost of vitamins for a healthy coat!

2. Probiotics for Gut Health

A balanced gut equals balanced skin. Digestive health directly impacts your dog’s immune response and inflammation levels. Adding a quality probiotic will make a big difference! Try Adored Beast Love Bugs or any of our faves here!

3. Whole Food or Raw Diet

Nutrition plays a huge role in skin and coat health. Highly processed kibble often lacks the nutrients dogs need to thrive. Consider upgrading to a rawlightly cooked, or freeze-dried whole food diet. Not sure which foods are best for your dog or cat? Do our at-home wellness scan for a list of the best foods just for your animal!

4. HOCl Spray for Skin Soothing

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a gentle, effective way to calm irritation and support healing… perfect for hot spots, allergies, and minor wounds. It’s safe enough for daily use. We love our own Organic Bunny’s HOCl Paw Cleanser, also safe for their body and face!

5. Natural Shampoos & Balms

Avoid harsh chemicals that dry out your dog’s skin. Choose a gentle, organic oatmeal or aloe-based shampoo like Petbiotics. For irritated or dry spots, look for calendula or neem balms from clean brands like kin + kind.

Overall, there are so many small changes you can make as soon as today to improve your dog’s skin and coat. Even if you cannot do ALL of the above, doing what you can will make a difference. Pick 1-2 from the above list and watch your pet’s best coat and skin come to life!
