Becoming an anthropomorphized glazed donut is no easy feat. I spend a lot of time outdoors in my free time, and my skin pays the price for it. Between sun damage and general dryness, I am always looking for ways to quench my face, and have tried everything to give it the hydration it craves: moisturizing toners, snail mucin serums, hyaluronic acid cocktails, slugging overnight with Vaseline
. If it promises glowing, baby-like skin, I’ve probably slathered it on my face. And yet, for all that effort, my skin gets moisturized-ish at best.
That’s where the Medicube Mini Booster Pro ($99) comes in. It’s the smaller, simpler, and more affordable sister to the celeb-loved Medicube Age-R Booster Pro
($187—originally $199)—the same one that’s been spotted in the hands of Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner—but designed for us everyday folk who want serious hydration without the steep learning curve or hefty price tag. It doesn’t come with a dozen different settings or an app to navigate… and that’s kind of the beauty of it. Instead, this little device focuses on two key functions—electroporation and LED light therapy—to help your skincare actually sink in and stay in. And after trying it for a month, my face has never felt juicier.
How it works
Don’t let the “mini” in the name fool you—the Medicube Mini Booster Pro
is small but mighty. About the size of a jade roller, this travel-friendly device delivers similar cutting-edge skincare tech as its big sister, the full-size (and more complicated) Medicube Age-R Booster Pro
, but in a more no-fuss format. It’s designed to be an on-the-go powerhouse for achieving that coveted glass skin glow; I actually have mine tucked away in my toiletry bag as I type this. I love it so much that I packed it along for my sister’s bachelorette party, and it took about as much space in my bag as a tube of mascara.
As mentioned, the Medicube Mini Booster Pro combines two powerhouse technologies—electroporation and LED light therapy—to help transform skin from dull to dewy in just a few minutes a day. The first function, electroporation, uses gentle electrical pulses to temporarily open micro-channels in your skin, allowing your serums and essences to absorb way deeper than they would with fingers alone. To use it, you apply your favorite moisturizer or serum over your face, turn on your device, and glide the device around on top in a circular motion. It basically turns your skin into a sponge, allowing your product and active ingredients to penetrate more deeply.
Then there’s LED light therapy, the glow-boosting tech that’s beloved by derms for its ability to calm inflammation, encourage collagen production, and smooth out the look of fine lines over time. The Mini Booster Pro has two light therapy options you can toggle between during your treatment: red light for boosting circulation and reducing inflammation, and blue light for soothing breakouts and acne.
There’s just one button, two light modes, five strengths, and no app to mess with. You can do a full treatment in under five minutes, which makes it realistic to use every day—even if you’re someone (hi!) who tends to abandon complicated gadgets after the first week.
My review
Most of the skin devices I’ve used in the past were bulky, complicated, or required a YouTube tutorial just to figure out what buttons to press. But the Mini Booster Pro? It’s refreshingly simple—and surprisingly effective. I just pressed a button to turn it on (it plays a lil’ song when it powers up before a voice announces “Level 1”). To increase intensity, I just pressed the button again (there are five intensities total). And to switch to blue light, I just gave the button two quick presses. That’s it, that’s the whole instruction manual in three sentences.

The first time I used it, I layered on my usual hyaluronic acid serum and slowly moved the device across my cheeks and forehead, letting the electroporation mode work its magic. Within seconds, my skin felt noticeably cooler, almost like it was actively pulling in the product. I didn’t get that tacky, sticky layer I usually have to wait to dry down when I apply HA—everything just melted in. After the full five minutes, my skin felt plumper and, more importantly, deeply moisturized in a way I hadn’t really experienced before outside of a professional facial.
As I mentioned, I spend most of my free time outdoors where I live in Salt Lake City, and in turn, my skin is perpetually thirsty. SLC is notoriously dry and occasionally very dusty (our air pollution sucks); but after a week of regular use with my Mini Booster Pro and bumping up my usage to twice a day (morning and night) my complexion looked bouncier and way more hydrated—even with the environmental factors at play. After a week, I noticed that my makeup was going on more smoothly, and the mid-afternoon dryness I usually get around my chin wasn’t there anymore. It gave me that lit-from-within glow that I usually only get immediately after putting on moisturizer.
The LED light is also a nice touch—it gives each session a little boost and makes my skin look less irritated after a long day or a run-in with a too-harsh exfoliant. It doesn’t feel gimmicky; it feels like a genuinely soothing, reparative step in my routine, and it’s nice that it happens automatically, saving me time on potentially another step.
Final thoughts
It’s been a month of using Medicube’s Mini Booster Pro daily, and I think this is the closest to a glazed donut as I’ll ever get. If you don’t have the time (or patience) for complicated gadgets, this tool is worth the hype. It’s small, sleek, and delivers on what it promises—deeper hydration and smoother skin, all for under $100.
It won’t replace your esthetician or magically erase fine lines overnight, but what it will do is elevate your everyday skincare routine in a way that feels doable and effective. Especially if you deal with dryness, product absorption issues, or dullness, this little device helps your products do their job better.
