All Elite Wrestling has just posted an announcement, which is surely going to buzz with excitement for the wresting fans. AEW Collision will be moving into TBS on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET, a very rare Saturday night wrestling broadcast on the network. The show will also be live for the viewers, either on TBS or SportsOnMax.

What all it goes to become, because the last time we had wrestling shown as a habit on Saturdays in TBS was in the hey days during the 90’s. The official twitter notice by AEW created an immediate stir among fans – some happy, some confused and while others… we’ll just say the replies went crazy directions.
“Aretrogriave_SteveK was all about nostalgia, tweeting, “Wrestling back on Saturdays in the TBS network…” That muscle emoji sums it all up – people are ready for old school Saturday night wrestling vibes.
But casuals are complaining. Aleks Krutoj had something to say about the current AEW roster: “why Toni Storm wrestle 2 times in a week? anothers not wrestle months? It’s go boring… Storm vs jobber… where Anna Jay vs Ford or Bayne?” Oof, not happy about the booking.
Things went weird with user deathtoniqqers replying with, “Y’all need to ban them pedophile flags (🏳️⚧️) from your shows, really damages your already fragile brand,” and an immediate back and forth ensued with another asking if AEW was “really supporting Pride?” Apparently some still think trans rights are up for debate in 2024.
On the more positive side of things Larry Mania keeps shouting out to commentator Tony Schiavone: “Congratulations @tonyschiavone24 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 Call 40 Years Professional Wrestling! Can’t Wait You Call AEW Collison On @TBSNetwork Saturday Night! You Deserve It!” Of course, he called wrestling on TBS way back in the day; so that closes the full circle all the way around for Schiavone.
And, just to avoid the complete rabid WWE nuts accusing it of being a sign of imminent doom, this is actually a one-off broadcast. An Avenger marathon occupies the current day on TNT, so nothing more and nothing less. Have to admit the paranoia of wrestling fans who assume every small change in scheduling is a sign of the company’s inevitable demise.
AEW has now gone on the offensive to increase its programming across the Warner Bros Discovery networks. Sure, such an occurrence would fit only a Saturday for now, yet it symbolized much more of the faith that this network places in the promotion. Saturday was hallowed ground for wrestling; those days even have names: WCW Saturday Night or WWF Saturday Night’s Main Event; this may very well be a testing ground for future, regular programming.
Excited over the back-to-the-past Saturday night feel? You worry over Toni Storm’s booking fate? Perhaps fixated on Pride flags present in wrestling shows? There are different things, but AEW certainly knows how to get people talking. That was going to be must-see television Saturday to see how that crowd would react at that special time.

Let’s face it; nowadays, in this generation of streaming, evening no longer matters very much as it did yesterday, right? Most of these will undoubtedly see it by way of their DVR, or Max, the very next day. But, there is something very classic about Saturday night wrestling that feels different — probably staying up late as a kid to watch Nitro or just the fun of weekend wrestling without worrying about work the next day. Any way, though, AEW puts just one night in into that old school feeling.
