This recipe has succulent shrimp, tender-crisp broccoli, and a sticky sauce that clings to every bite. Not only is it quick to make, I think it might actually be faster than takeout!

What You’ll Need

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make honey garlic shrimp and broccoli. Scroll down to the recipe card to find the ingredient quantities and recipe instructions.

  • Shrimp – Large shrimp are perfect for a stir-fry because they cook quickly and stay juicy. Peel and devein them before cooking.
  • Olive oil – You can substitute with avocado oil or another high-heat oil if you’d like.
  • Broccoli florets – Make your prep even easier and buy a bag of broccoli florets instead of cutting it yourself!
  • Green onions

Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • Honey
  • Tamari – Or soy sauce, if you prefer.
  • Rice wine vinegar – This is also sometimes labeled as rice vinegar.
  • Toasted sesame oil
  • Sriracha – You can add more or less, or even leave it out altogether for a mild stir fry.
  • Cornstarch – This is what makes the sauce sticky so it clings to the shrimp and broccoli.
  • Garlic and ginger – Fresh adds much more flavor than dried!

How to Make Honey Garlic Shrimp and Broccoli

This dish is seriously easy! Here’s what you’ll need to do.

  • Make the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, tamari, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha, cornstarch, garlic, and ginger. Set aside.
  • Cook the shrimp. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and sear for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  • Add the broccoli. Toss in the broccoli and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often.
  • Add the sauce. Pour in the honey garlic sauce and stir to coat. Simmer for about 1 minute until the sauce is thickened, then serve.

Tips and Variations

I’ve got a few more pointers for the perfect honey garlic shrimp stir fry!

  • Have all the ingredients ready to go. Stir fries move quickly and you won’t have time to pause and chop or measure once you start cooking.
  • Try other veggies. Snap peas, bell peppers, or carrots are great swaps for broccoli, or use a combination.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp. They only need a couple of minutes per side! Overcooked shrimp get tough and rubbery.

How to Store and Reheat

  • Refrigerator: Store leftover honey garlic shrimp and broccoli in an airtight container for up to 3 days. I don’t recommend freezing this recipe, as the shrimp can get rubbery.
  • To reheat: Warm gently in a skillet over medium heat until heated through, or microwave in 30-second intervals.
