Ever wonder – samantha mercanti

Do you ever wonder why God does what God does.

I went through one of the most horrifying life experiences very young and because I was a kid, I knew what was happening, but kind of didn’t know too.

I am grateful every day to be here, but I can’t explain to you what it felt like to be below rock bottom and be a kid. Knowing, but not knowing.

My life wasn’t really like most. When I talk to people, it can be hard to relate. No, I didn’t enjoy school. No, I didn’t party during university. I was basically trying to survive. My parents were my friends and took me out, but I didn’t really know where we were going. I was lost in an illness.

I have a business friend who supports an organization building a children’s hospice in my area and he mentioned it to me recently. We have been supporting this cause throughout the years, but we plan to support it more. Connecting with him made me think deeper about this hospice and what it means.

A child should never have to face anything scary. I know they do, but they shouldn’t have to.

As a person who experienced an illness young, knowing but not knowing but knowing, I wish I could take their place as an adult. I am sure all of us adults wish we could take their place. And, I wish I could take all of their pain away, because I know how it feels and I am so deeply sorry.

We wonder why God does what God does. I don’t think we will ever truly know.

My illness gave me such a beautiful and unique perspective on life that I will be forever grateful for and it gave me a deeper connection to the universe.

I gained a great deal from my illness and it made me into the person I am today and the person I want to be in this world.

I will always wonder why God does what God does.

Yet, I will also always trust why God does what God does.
