🎶 La di dah, di-dah-di-dum ’tis autumn…. Over and over in my head lately but I do not mind. Fall gives me so much joy even if it is 90 degrees in October! Every year I go nuts for pumpkin spice. I can’t stop myself! I haven’t grown out of it and like I said, pumpkin spice everything makes me so happy. So, today I’m sharing two quick and easy home DIY sprays that smell of all the fall goodness! It may even inspire you to clean nooks and crannies that have never seen you coming!
I took one for the team with this post. I have a basket full of essential oil blends and fragrance oils in the pursuit of finding the BEST natural and non-natural pumpkin spice scent that can be used in DIYs. I believe I have found you one option in both camps so if you’re loving the pumpkin spice and looking for more ways to incorporate it into your home, I’ve got you covered.

Pumpkin Spice Scent Options:
I’m not a very good girl when it comes to pumpkin spice. In fact, I’m flat out terrible when it comes to keeping with natural scents. I buy every pumpkin spice candle I see. T.J. Maxx and Marshalls has seen quite a bit of me lately. Don’t get me started on my 20 year love affair with Yankee’s Pumpkin Spice. I have also bought several fragrance oils as well as essential oil blends claiming to be pumpkin spice. I’ve even attempted my own blends. One in particular caught the attention of my husband who was NOT impressed. I’m shameless and I have no remorse. However, I do keep windows open as much as possible-that does help dissipate the toxic fumes. We also bought THIS air purifier. I’ll report back if we like it.
For these DIY pumpkin spice spray recipes I’ve got 2 scent options for you. I did find Plant Therapy’s Pumpkin Spice essential oil blend to be quite lovely and a very good natural alternative to artificial fragrance. So, if you would like to try this essential oil blend and keep it healthy, I put my stamp of approval on this blend. I also tried several fragrance oils and landed on one I really love. If you don’t mind being a little dirty with your sprays, THIS one is my favorite.
The artificial fragrance is from Air Scent. Below is what they claim about their fragrance oils…
- Safe Clean Quality Fragrance Oils – As a fragrance manufacturer, we take pride in producing the highest quality and concentration of oils that are IFRA Compliant, non-GMO, Vegan and free from synthetic colors, parabens, phthalates and carrier oils.
I will try out more of their fragrance and am using this one in an upcoming wood wick candle project for DIY Christmas gifts. If you’ve tried your hand at candle making you know essential oils don’t really have a large scent throw when used in a candle.

Pumpkin Spice DIY All Purpose Cleaning Spray Recipe:
This recipe is based on a 16 ounce glass spray bottle.
Use this all-purpose cleaning spray on all non wood surfaces. If you do use it on wood, be cautious since alcohol can strip or damage wood. I use this spray on door knobs, stainless steel, sinks, toilets, inside the microwave, stove tops, tile and concrete floors and even inside my car. I have found that with the addition of Castile soap, this spray isn’t perfect for glass. It can leave subtle streaks. It leaves a good amount of pumpkin spice scent everywhere I use it! This cleaner is a big upgrade from my usual vinegar cleaning spray!

Pumpkin Spice Room Spray Recipe:
This recipe is based on an 6.8 ounce glass spray bottle.
You can add more drops of fragrance if you’d like. It depends on your personal preference. Since this is the artificial fragrance, it is stronger than an essential oil blend so start low.
You can use this room spray on linen and clothes closets, bed sheets, upholstery, rugs, towels, mattresses, pet beds, dryer balls and washing machines.
It’s not 100% necessary to use a filtered water but it’s recommended due to mineral build up that regular tap water can leave behind.

Both of these DIY sprays have been so nice to have and because these scents contain such warm, spicy notes you can use them all through the holidays!
How about you? Do you indulge in toxic candles during the holidays? I really wish I wouldn’t. I have found many nice essential oil blends and do find that diffusing gives a lot of scent over a large area. I still love a flame and there just isn’t a combination of essential oils that can match Yankee’s Pumpkin Spice for me!
