Our admin team explains the process of receiving therapy services at Cutting Edge Pediatric & Adult Therapy.
Getting Started with Therapy Services at Cutting Edge Pediatric & Adult Therapy
At Cutting Edge Pediatric & Adult Therapy, we are dedicated to helping children reach their fullest potential. We provide a wide range of services to meet the needs of your family, including:
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Feeding Therapy
- Counseling
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
We know that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so we’ve worked hard to make our intake process as simple and supportive as possible. Families can begin services with us in one of two ways.
Option 1: Referral from Your Primary Care Provider (PCP)
- Talk with your PCP and let them know you’d like to begin services at Cutting Edge.
- Your PCP’s office will fax us a referral that includes your child’s information, diagnosis (if available), insurance details, and the services requested.
- Once we receive the referral, our administrative team enters your child into our system within 1–2 business days.
- Within 3 business days of the patient being in our system, our patient care coordinator will review the referral and reach out to guide you through the next steps.
Option 2: Submit Our Online Intake Form
- You can visit our website under “Getting Started,” and complete the New Intake Form.
- Once we receive the form, our administrative team enters your child into our system within 1–2 business days.
- Within 3 business days of the patient being in our system, our patient care coordinator will review the referral and reach out to guide you through the next steps.
What Happens Next
During the call, we’ll confirm details, request a signed prescription from your PCP, and send you a portal link. Through our patient portal, you’ll fill out consents and a medical history form. We’ll also verify your benefits and review any financial responsibility with you.
Once we receive:
- A signed prescription from your PCP
- Completed consents
- Medical history forms
…we can move forward with scheduling your child’s evaluation.
However, there are a few things that can affect the timeline:
- Insurance requirements. Some insurance plans require prior authorizations or additional referrals before scheduling.
- Waitlists. Certain therapies may have waitlists. If that’s the case, we’ll add your child and contact you when spots open.
- Appointment availability. We schedule evaluations about one month in advance. During back-to-school season, afternoon appointments fill quickly. If you need an afternoon slot, we may place you on a waitlist. Morning appointments are usually more available, and we can provide school notes for absences.
How Families Can Help
There are a few steps you can take to help the process move smoothly:
- Stay in touch with your PCP to ensure prescriptions, referrals, and authorizations are sent promptly.
- Keep your contact information and insurance details up to date.
- Respond quickly to calls or messages from our team.
When families and our team work together, we’re able to get children started with therapy as soon as possible.
