Teddi Mellencamp came across an upsetting message from a fan on Instagram this week amid the devastating news that four more tumors had been found on her brain.
As estranged husband Edwin Arroyave, 47, continues to rally around her in support, the 43-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum admitted the note she saw from a fan made her “really sad” as she spoke of her chances of survival, declared her determination to beat the disease, and celebrated a milestone in her health battle.
“This is so heartbreaking. Typically, stage four cancer is terminal, especially with metastasis. Praying that Teddi heals and is an outlier,” someone wrote in an Instagram comment in regard to Teddi’s cancer.
Sharing the message with her own audience, Teddi confessed to being upset by the statements.
“These kind of comments make me really sad. I know people are trying to help but heart breaking for me to read,” she explained. “Of course I know the chances but I truly believe with my whole heart. I will beat this and watch my kids graduate. Vent on the pod and have everyone get mad at me. Annoy my siblings by reminding everyone I am the favorite. Etc.”
While Teddi certainly has an uphill battle, she’s staying positive and celebrating her wins, including the final day of her radiation on Thursday.
“Ringing the bell can signify a major phase of treatment — Today was my last day of radiation. [Five] more rounds of immunotherapy to go. Love you all for the kind messages,” she proclaimed with a video of herself ringing the bell.
Meanwhile, on Edwin’s Instagram Story, he shared a couple of posts about his estranged wife, with whom he shares three children.
“I’m endlessly proud of your resilience and courage,” he wrote in his first message to Teddi. “The way you keep pushing forward, no matter the setbacks, is nothing short of inspiring. You show up every single day to face this battle head-on, and even on the hardest days, you still find a way to get things done. Your strength is remarkable — and so are you.”
In a second post, Edwin included a reading titled “Positioned for Healing,” which featured Jeremiah 30:17, saying, “‘I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,’ says the Lord.”
Edwin’s writing also included highlights about what the Bible says in regard to healing.
“Did you know that the human body is designed to heal itself? Many physical conditions can be easily healed if the body is prepared. We know that ultimately, healing comes from God, but He’s given us wisdom to care for our bodies so that we can be in the best possible state to receive His healing,” the excerpt stated.
“Take a step of faith today, and God will meet you where you are. God has promised to heal you and bless you. When you are faithful to do your part, you are putting yourself in the right position for healing,” it added.
