AEW’s Dustin Rhodes drops inspiration all over Twitter. The old toxicated veteran of the ring wrote: “Have a great day and accomplish something today. Help someone in need as well; it really helps your soul! #KeepSteppin.” Honestly, we need to hear this today.

The tweet showed up with a black-and-white photo of Rhodes giving his famous-and-intense glare (wrestlers need to keep wrestling, even in inspiration posts!), and that hit home with the fans. Some replies were lovely expressions of appreciation, others funny, and many said the words of a wrestler really can matter outside of the ring.
Some days I win, others I learn…now this is the kind of stuff showing up matters when it counts, even if it is hard. Rhodes’ message was clearly something that really went into the hearts of somebody who needed to hear it.
Another one from a follower: “all I did today was get to ride around in my sister’s new (new to her) car. oh & got my toe nails trimmed (I’m too stove up to do them myself anymore).” Self-care sometimes looks like… well, whatever that is. So it’s OK!
Countless users said they never anticipated getting life lessons from a pro wrestler, not to mention one with such a complete career history before their eyes. “I never expected to get inspirational words from a wrestler, but I see them every day. Thank you for that.” Rhodes is the kind of dude who has been through hell and back in his career (remember those wacky times as Goldust?), so when he talks about hanging in there, he means it.
Then came the steady volley of responses ranging from “solid advice. respect” to an account of fixing a coworker’s phone while joking about being part of the “#HamNEggsTechSquad”. Apparently, tech support is considered an act of goodwill now? Whatever works!
What really gives this whole exchange its extra weight is the idea of how far a small act of theirs can spread into the world. Rhodes is not some wrestler yelling into the void-they are truly listening to what he says and are relating it to their own lives. Whether struggling through grief or celebrating a tiniest win, or just making an effort to get better, the ‘Keep Steppin’ mindset means something to the people.

In contrast to the affirmative social media where most take is considered ‘hot,’ here came a warm-toned blast from a wrestler! No drama, no controversy: just a guy telling fellow humans to help each other out. Possibly Rhodes is teaching us all: do something today, help somebody, then keep steppin’ forward! Heck, that step could be getting the toes trimmed because you can’t reach anybody anymore. No judgment!
