2025 CrossFit Games Events 6+7 Results: Garard and Sprague Score Critical Points and Lucy Campbell Has a Day

Plus: Is Tia starting to pull away?

Day 2 of the 2025 CrossFit Games ended with a back-to-back, two-part test, “Throttle Up/Hammer Down,” with 200 total points up for grabs. Here’s what they were up against to finish the day:

“IE06: Throttle Up”

For time with a vest:

  • 35-calorie ski erg
  • 28 chest-to-bar pull-ups
  • 24 burpee box jump-overs

Time Cap: 6 minutes

At the 7-minute mark

“IE07: Hammer Down”

For time:

  • 35-calorie C2 bike
  • 28 bar muscle-ups
  • 24 burpee box jump-overs

Time Cap: 8 minutes

Women: 16-pound vest (IE06 only), 20-inch box
Men: 22-pound vest (IE06 only), 24-inch box

How it went down: If you blinked, you missed it on IE06, as the men attacked the first half of this two-parter to grab as much rest as they could before they transitioned to IE07.

  • Several men sold their souls to start, but few managed to excel in both events.

Ricky Garard and James Sprague — two former podium finishers in desperate need of points — managed to balance the suffering just right.

Garard took second on IE06 and first on IE07, while former champ Sprague finished first and third.

Sprague talked with Mike Arsenault after the event about his battle to defend the title of Fittest on Earth:

  • “This is a professional sport; you’re not always going to win every race,” Sprague said. “But what you can do is learn from your failures, learn from your hardships, learn from the things that go well, and take it into the next one. I believe that the more times I step out here, the better, more resilient I’m going to get.”

Both men made a big move up the leaderboard – Garard sits in second and Sprague in third overall – and look to ride that momentum going into the final day of competition.

On the women’s side: She lost it for an event, but Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr is back to wearing the white leader’s jersey as the athletes took to the competition floor for the final time on Saturday.

The question now is, will she ever let it go again?

Finding a balance between leading the pack and red-lining continued to be a challenge as the women took the floor.

  • Alexis Raptis was the first athlete to earn back-to-back top heat finishes, showcasing her gymnastics prowess.

The final heat, though, was the main event, and Lucy Campbell once again proved that she can hang with the big dogs.

  • She snagged her second event win of the day, but it wasn’t enough to move back up into first overall.

Arielle Loewen, who took her second career event win at the CrossFit Games in IE06, described the workout to Arsenault after:

  • “I think a burpee box jump over is the truest test of fitness, and I am really proud that I have good fitness.”

Loewen finished the day in third place, eyeing a spot on the final podium tomorrow.
One last thing: In the closest men’s race we have ever seen at the CrossFit Games, 41 points now separate first place from seventh place.
