There had been a recent cryptic Instagram post that sent the whole fanbase into panic mode. Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun had dropped this short, loaded message: “there’s only four shows left. we are going to miss all of you.” And those last words slammed hard. They gave no fancy clips from the tour or B-roll footage of what was happening backstage; just those words written starkly. And the internet went berserk.

For one, comment sections basically form a therapy group in less than no time. Then again, @aos.graphics in the comment section said, “you’ll be back though, right? … right?” which then snowballed into a thread of people sharing links to Reddit posts about their plans until 2026 or 2027. Someone even genuinely put a statement from a manager in there, but who knows? Then comes in @vane.agm basically yelling, “DO NOT SAY IT LIKE THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE U’RE LEAVING 😭,” which is honestly a good mood. The rest of the comments were basically everyone reliving their war flashbacks from the band’s bold 2017 hiatus.
Speaking of which, @eggtyler came through with, like, the brutal truth: “can you stop writing these captions like we bouta relive 2017 again.” It got heated. Replies ranged from “DONT THEY FUCKING DAAAAAARE” to a more resigned, “Tyler has kids now, both might want to take a break.” It’s fair—family life does put things in perspective, and the band’s storyline does seem pretty wrapped up. But no one’s cutting the cord just yet.
Or at least everyone else was having their downward spiral, while @_thislineismine was having fun with this one: “Can’t miss us if you don’t leave ayeeeee,” and then @fridamccartney took it a bit further: “by this you mean miss us until the second leg of the tour right?” But that was stewing in wishful thinking as far as the post went.
Even international fans didn’t resist joining in: @cecy_oc asked (in Spanish): “Pero ¿Cuándo se estrena la película de Clancy en México, por favor?” and @sas1_art pleaded, “come back to europe please, we love you |-/ ❤️.” Even @arianyserafim_ managed to joke (in Portuguese): “Delete this because there’s a kid crying here (me).”
For those having caught the early part of the tour, the post fairly stirred some nostalgia. @_waging_my_wars_ chimed in, “So glad I got to see you guys on the second night of your tour in Denver! What an amazing experience.” Meanwhile, @lexi.loftin is holding on to hope for a comeback, “waiting for my ‘welcome back to a show…been a minute’ theory to come true.”
So what is truly going on? For just a few months or so goodbye before the second leg or are we looking at another multi-year hiatus? The band hasn’t said anything yet. Starting up the comments section puts the band in a panic-anxious position, which means that none of them are ready to have a finale. And with only four shows left to go, the clock started ticking. Maybe it is a break, maybe a pause; one thing is very clear: Twenty One Pilots knows to keep you hanging. Literally.

For now, all we can do is wait, maybe re-watching some of their old performances or hoping extra-fast for the year 2027. Or maybe for Tyler and Josh to change their mind. Either way, Clique won’t let go without a fight.
