Sonu Nigam has landed in controversy after a heated moment during a concert in Bengaluru. When a group of men in the crowd demanded he sing in Kannada, Sonu lashed out, saying he had been performing Kannada songs since before the boy was born.
However, his comparison of the situation to the recent Pahalgam terror attack triggered backlash, as it was seen as hurtful and unrelated.
Following this, the Avalahalli police issued a notice asking him to appear for questioning. Bengaluru Rural SP C.K. Baba stated that Sonu’s remarks hurt the sentiments of Karnataka people.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce is now reportedly planning a meeting to decide on Sonu’s future with the industry.
Key associations like the Music Directors, Directors, and Producers guilds are expected to join the discussion. Music composers such as Sadhu Kokila and Arjun Janya will also be part of the talks about the next steps.
