The City Girls rapper yesterday posted, throwback photo included, a powerful statement on Twitter: ‘EVERYONE in Miami had a hot topic edgy era! Sorry yall only know me for my mugshots! 😭’ JT dropped this bomb after commenting that the whole hot-topic/edgy phase was set in Miami, and she was there. Well, let’s just say…the internet had THOUGHTS.

The photo itself is a mood. JT was serving early 2010s alternative vibes- dark makeup, studded accessories, and all that. Just goes to show you where the rockstar energy came from, as one would say, and the majority is agreeing. User @thereallkarma_ buttresses JT saying, ‘literally! been on the trench rock star wave.😭.’ and user @COREYGALOREE added, ‘u been doing this, only difference is u got more bread and access now. u was eating back then too🤍.’
But not everyone sided with her. They tried to lowball it like @keepkeepitaband who went, ‘When did ivori ever say she wanted to be a rockstar? She dress nun like a rockstar.’ Ouch. To which @SleezeJT came back with, ‘reading is fundamental.’ Oop, subtweet wars were a-flyin’, and JT’s minions were backing up her looks from way back when.
Then comparisons came strong. @aceworstt chimed in saying, ‘Carti n Uzi nem got they shit from miami,’ suggesting that JT and them should be given their due respect. And you know what? They just might be right. Miami underground has always had its own flavor, and JT’s throwback proves that she was part of that wave before it blew up to mainstream.
But @00BARBlE was arguably the funniest reply, stating, ‘I’m glad my momma didn’t let me embrace mine cu whew hunni 😭.’ Same! But not everybody can pull it off. JT, however? Did. Even @drakessprem said, ‘Ngl I feel like you ate this.’
Oh, the trolls were aplenty. @KirkBigGeneral said, ‘JT you responding to an orphan w/ no identity at all 😒 life gotta be a wreck for them.’ Harsh? Probably; then again, who cares? As for JT, she rose above it all, her old pics having done most of the talking, and honestly, they said a lot.
And pure nostalgia for the win. @adoremeluv1 said, ‘I think that was an era all around the world,’ which was totally true. Late 2000s to early 2010s scene kids and neon hair and studded belts- JT was just one of the few who could actually wear ’em.
So, what’s the moral of the story? JT has always been that girl. Mugshots or throwback fits, she’s unapologetically herself. And if you didn’t know? Well now you know.
Lowkey, JT, some archive bonding is in order! @_kammmj put it best- ‘Jt unarchive some of these girl!’ The people demand!

So clear is the moral! You’re allowed to check the receipts before coming at JT. Iconic she has been, iconic she is, and selective amnesia isn’t going to change a thing.
