“Prejudice has finally found a home and we cannot wait to bring these incredible characters and stories to life! @celesteparr Let’s do this! 💃🏼🙌🏼,” Emily excitedly shared on Instagram with the news.
Canada’s Bell Media and Fox Entertainment Global are in late stage development to bring the series to air, according to Deadline.
Celeste Parr serves as writer and creator on the upcoming legal procedural, which will see Emily starring as a former sex worker turned litigator.
In Prejudice, rising litigator Liesl Wellington’s (VanCamp) life and career are thrown into upheaval when her past as a sex worker is publicly exposed. Scorned by her field and social circle, she launches her own law firm dedicated to defending the likewise silenced and delegitimized.
Bell and FEG have ordered a second script for the series, but it has not officially been greenlit yet.
“Prejudice tackles complex themes including identity, judgment, and resilience with unflinching honesty,” Justin Stockman, Vice-President, Content Development & Programming, Bell Media, shared in a statement. “Celeste Parr has crafted a gripping narrative that is sure to captivate audiences, and the immensely talented Emily VanCamp is the perfect actor to bring this powerful story to life.”
If picked up, the series would air on Fox in the US and on CTV and Crave in Canada.
Less than a month ago, Emily made a rare public appearance to attend an event in Los Angeles for Bell Media!
Prejudice will mark Emily‘s first on-screen television role in three years, after her starring turn in The Resident, which also aired on Fox. Since then, she has only had two other roles, the movie Miranda’s Victim, and reprising her MCU character Sharon Carter in an episode of the animated series What If…?
