Elon Musk and Donald Trump appear to be on great terms.
During the televised cabinet meeting on Wednesday, April 30, the president and former DOGE specialist heaped praise on each other after rumors swirled about tension between them.

During the gathering, which aired on Fox News, Elon Musk wore both a black cap and a red “Gulf of America” hat.
“Elon, I love the double hat, by the way,” Donald Trump said of the look. “But he’s the only one that can do that. He’s the one that will get away with it.”
“Well, Mr. President, they say I wear a lot of hats. And I think that’s true. Even my hat has a hat,” the Tesla boss replied.
Elon Musk then went on a lengthy monologue about what a great job he believes Donald Trump is doing leading the United States.
“You know, the American people voted for secure borders, safe cities and sensible spending — and that’s what they’ve gotten. [A] tremendous amount has been accomplished in the first 100 days. As everyone has said, it’s more than has been in any administration before — ever, period. So this portends very well for what will happen for the rest of the administration. I think this could be the greatest administration since the founding of the country,” he said.
“Well, we all want to thank you for your help. You really have sacrificed a lot. We’ve been treating you very unfairly,” the commander-in-chief replied, referencing the spate of Tesla attacks.
“Well, they did like to burn my cars, which is not great, you know, it’s pretty bad,” Musk responded.
“You have been treated unfairly, but the vast majority of people in this country really respect and appreciate you. And this whole room can say that very strongly: [You’ve] really been a tremendous help. You opened up a lot of eyes as to what could be done and we just want to thank you very much,” Trump gushed.
Although Elon Musk will be exiting the administration and his position at DOGE in the coming weeks, Donald Trump made it clear there will always be room for the billionaire on his staff in some way.
“You’re invited to stay as long as you want,” the Republican leader said. “At some point, I guess, he wants to get back home to his cars. You’ve done an incredible job. $150 billion, let’s think of that: $160 billion. They said, ‘Oh, it could have been more.’ And a lot of stuff is being worked on. That number could be doubled and even tripled. A lot of things are being worked on that we don’t count yet because it’s not quite there. But you’ve done a fantastic job and we appreciate it very much, Elon.”
“It’s also an honor to work with your incredible cabinet. I’d just like to say thank you, and it’s great to work with you. Thank you very much,” Musk replied.
The warm reception between Elon Musk and Donald Trump comes after an insider claimed the former star of The Apprentice blocked the X owner from attending a top-secret military meeting.
“POTUS still very much loves Elon, but there are some red lines,” an insider told Axios. “Elon has a lot of business in China and he has good relations there and this briefing just wasn’t the right thing.”
