5-ingredient (or less) frozen meatball slow cooker dinners

Fast and family-friendly! Try these 5-ingredient (or less) frozen meatball slow cooker dinners with easy homemade sauces. Perfect for busy weeknights.

As a mom of four, I fully support any dinner that cooks itself — especially on nights filled with homework, practices, and the general chaos of real life. Frozen meatballs + the slow cooker is one of my go-to “don’t think, just dump” solutions. It’s budget-friendly, kid-approved, and incredibly flexible.

I was reminded of frozen meatball slow cooker dinners this past weekend while celebrating my potluck-style 40th birthday celebration. More to come on that [turning 40, the party, the potluck]. However, the BBQ meatballs courtesy of my dear friend Kelly was such a hit- and sooooooooo delicious. I had to save the last of the leftovers because of Joey. Enough said. BBQ meatballs + a 12-year-old tween. Yeah, those meatballs didn’t stand a chance!

These five 5-ingredient (or less!) dinners feel homemade thanks to super simple sauces that require almost no effort. Think comfort food… without the stress.

1. Lightened-Up Sweet & Sour Meatballs

A kid-favorite that tastes like takeout.

Ingredients:

How to Make:
Whisk the sauce ingredients in the slow cooker, add meatballs, cook on LOW 4–6 hours. Serve with rice + steamed veggies.

2. “Upgraded” BBQ Meatball Sandwiches

A jazzed-up BBQ sauce that tastes homemade.

Ingredients:

How to Make:
Mix sauce ingredients, pour over meatballs, and cook LOW 4–5 hours. Pile onto buns and add coleslaw if you want extra crunch.

Why it works:
The Worcestershire + garlic adds depth, while the sweetness thickens and rounds out store-bought sauce.

3. Simple Homemade Marinara Meatballs

Italian comfort food, minimal effort. You don’t have to tell me or anyone else if you use store-bought marinara sauce instead of making your own. I’m all about shortcuts and saving Mom’s sanity. And sometimes that looks like a jar of Rao’s.

Ingredients:

How to Make:
Stir ingredients together in the slow cooker, add meatballs, cook on LOW 4–6 hours. Serve over pasta or tucked into subs.

4. Easy Teriyaki Meatball Bowls

Sweet, savory, and kid approved. If I ever tell you a recipe is kid-approved, it likely means 2 out of 4 kiddos enjoy one or more bites of a new recipe. Otherwise, the other 2 are asking for something else for dinner.

Ingredients:

How to Make:
Mix sauce ingredients, add meatballs, and cook LOW 4–6 hours. Serve over rice with steamed veggies or a frozen stir-fry blend.

5. Cozy Swedish-Style Meatballs

Creamy comfort for chilly nights.

Ingredients:

  • Frozen meatballs

  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire

  • ½ cup sour cream (stir in at end)

How to Make:
Whisk soup, broth, and Worcestershire in slow cooker. Add meatballs and cook on LOW 4–5 hours. Stir in sour cream right before serving. Serve with egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
